Boone County - Dry conditions and high temperatures fueled a brush fire in the northern part of the county today.
The fire occurred between two houses off of Highway E. About a dozen Boone County Fire Department firefighters were needed to stop it.
Boone County Fire Deputy Chief Jeff Scott said fire like these can be common during the dry months before a snowfall.
"If we continue to have the dry conditions, high temperatures, we can have anywhere from 12 to 15 of these calls a day," Scott said.
Officials said they do not know what caused the eight acre fire. However Scott said some fires at this time of the year start when people burn leaves.
Scott said residents who burn leaves should do it in the evening when the humidity is higher.
