MARIES COUNTY - As the water continues to rise, MoDOT employees are trying to help displaced drivers.
Justin Fagne is one of the employees helping out.
"Been directing traffic to get 'em around the flooded bridge," said Fagne.
Highway 63 closed first, just south of Vienna, sending drivers over to Highway 42. But then MoDOT closed a portion of 42, east of Vienna. That sent drivers through a maze of back roads on Route E.
"I can't say whether that'll close tonight, but it's a good possibility that it could close," said Fagne.
The Gasconade River continues to overflow onto 63. At one point, the northbound shoulder was passable, but a few hours later, water poured over the highway.
The record was set back in 1982, and is marked by a spot on the side of the roadway. A new record could be set once the river crests.
One driver's route was blocked to Cuba.
"I think I'm just going to stay overnight at the ambulatory base and try in the morning," said Gene Dudley, driver.
MoDOT expects roads to remain flooded at least through the weekend.
