COLUMBIA - Missouri senior tight end Chase Coffman was named a finalist for the John Mackey Award.

The award goes to the nation's top tight end.

The other finalists are also from the Big 12 Conference.

Oklahoma's Jermaine Gresham and Oklahoma State's Brandon Pettigrew join Coffman as finalists.

Of the three finalists Coffman leads in receptions, yards, yards per game and receptions per game.

Coffman has not played in Missouri's last two games due to an injured toe. He is set to play on Saturday against the Kansas Jayhawks at Arrowhead Stadium.

The award will be announced on December 11 at the Home Depot ESPNU College Football Awards Show. It will be presented on April 27, 2009 at the Nassau County Sports Commission Annual Awards Dinner.
