ROCHEPORT - A small fire broke out in Rocheport on Thursday, but no people or property were damanged.
Firefighters said it was probably started by people burning trash. The warmer temperatures, dry climate, and increased wind are likely factors in its spreading.
William Harris is lieutenant with the Boone County Fire Department and said people should check with the department before they burn trash.
"You can always call in to the local joint dispatch communication and they can advise you whether it's a good day to burn or not. They'll also advise whether you'll need a permit or not," Williams said.
An old fence and a lamp post were the only things damaged in the fire.
