CAMDENTON - Trevor Johnson's lemonade stand is about more than just cooling off.
While most kids are hitting the pool or playing video games, Trevor is setting up shop. He may be taller than his lemonade stand, but that's not the main objective.
Three years ago, Trevor lost his grandpa to cancer. During Don Johnson's illness, Trevor and his mom, Suzanne McCoy, saw a story about Alex's Lemonade Stand. The nationwide program raises money for cancer research.
"He's already a good businessman, so I think he'll reach for the stars," Suzanne said.
In his third year at the stand, 13-year-old Trevor is getting a little old for lemonade, but the businessman in him keeps the stand going, looking to hit the $1,000 mark this year.
It's a business for a cause, all in the name of family.
"I think his grandpa would be so proud of him," McCoy said. "He is so proud of him."
On Friday Trevor raised $300, but he hopes to raise even more on Saturday. His stand will be open from 12 to 5 p.m. at 388 Thunder Mountain Road in Camdenton. You can also visit the Alex's Lemonade Stand link to donate online.
