JEFFERSON CITY - State auditors keep watch on all financial activities that go through the state.
There has been some question whether Missouri's Auditor, Susan Montee, will remain the state's auditor.
Democratic candidate Montee said Thursday she was speaking to President Obama's administration about becoming the Federal Auditor. Montee then said she will seek re-election in Missouri for the 2010 election. Montee replaced 2006 Claire McCaskill.
Her office keeps track of money coming in, like the Federal Stimulus funds. Montee is responsible for keeping records of how that money is spent. In compliance with the transparency clause of the stimulus bill, all reports of stimulus spending will go through her office.
