"In addition once the concern was raised that there was some concern with it went back and also changed the radius point on one of the intersections to help even further slow the traffic," Jefferson City Public Works Director Matt Morasch said.

Residents are still hoping for a different road route.

"We spoke with a person from Planning and Zoning quite a while ago and he asked that his name not be mentioned because he really shouldn't be talking to us. But, he did say that there was another way that this road could be done and that's what we're hanging on to that there is another way this road can be done. It shouldn't be at the expense of our safety," Thompson said.

At the city council meeting, the development was discussed for more than an hour. City council approved the proposal even though residents were unhappy with the plan.

Kohl's department store hopes to open in Stoneridge by Oct. 1, in time for the holiday shopping season.
