ST. LOUIS (AP) - Sen. Hillary Clinton took her Democratic presidential campaign to an urban church and a suburban union hall in St. Louis.
Traveling with her daughter Chelsea, she told enthusiastic crowds that she will work to find common ground for the common good, without compromising core values. Clinton discussed universal health care, the housing crisis, national security, trade, and global climate change. She said electing either her or Senator Barack Obama would change history. But, she added, Missourians must ask, who can change America, and deliver results. Earlier today, she told a black church congregation in north St. Louis that the nation is suffering from an epidemic of indifference that neglects the neediest. She told the congregation that if elected she'll give the nation the second chance it deserves. She called on the idealism of Martin Luther King Jr. and Nelson Mandela and said leaders are called to be doers and find solutions. Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney is scheduled to be in St. Louis later, while his son, Matt, campaigns in Joplin and Springfield.
