Columbia Man Arrested for Sex Crimes

LEES SUMMIT - Jared Leroy Mohler of Columbia was one of five suspects arrested on active warrants for sex crimes against children.

The arrests came after a joint investigation by the the Rural Missouri Major Case Squad -- which includes eight law enforcement agencies -- the Missouri Highway Patrol, and the Western Missouri Cyber Crimes Task Force.

The Pettis County Sheriff's Department and Sedalia police were part of the investigation. In addition to Mohler of Columbia, the arrested suspects are Burrell Edward Mohler Sr., 77, and Burrell Edward Mohler Jr., 53, both of Independence; David A. Mohler, 52, of Lamoni, Iowa; and Roland Neil Mohler, 47, of Bates City. The five are facing felony charges include forcible rape of a child less than 12 years old;use of a child in a sexual performance and forcible sodomy; and deviate sexual intercourse with a child less than 12 years old.

There are more than a dozen felony counts in all. All five individuals are behind bars;at the Lafayette County Jail.
