BOONE COUNTY - A Hartsburg woman is out on bond after her arrest on sodomy and statutory rape charges.
Police said Melody Link rented a house in Columbia just across from Hickman High School.
They said she hosted a 16-year-old family friend and his friends.
"The initial report came in through the victim's father who suspected that his son was involved in an inappropriate relationship with Ms. Link," said Sgt. Ken Hammond, with the Columbia Police Department.
Investigators said that sexual acts occured in the house starting around August.
"We spoke with the victim as well as potential witnesses to several of the incidences, and then during the course of the investigation, investigators were able to develop probable cause to make an arrest," said Sgt. Hammond.
Neighbors of the home Link rented said they had no idea what was going on inside.
One neighbor didn't notice anything out of the ordinary.
"I do remember seeing probably four guys. They were younger, I thought they lived there," said Judi Asbury.
She now worries about the neighborhood children.
"There's at least 30 kids walking down the street, after school and before school, so I don't know if any of them stopped there, I hope they didn't," said Asbury.
Prosecutors charged Link with three counts of statutory sodomy and three counts of statutory rape.
Link posted a $27,000 bond after her arrest.
