COLUMBIA - Churches can help save money and a trip to the grocery store.

Three words you won't hear often if you participate in the Angel Food Ministries Program.

Marcia Reynolds is one of them. She said you can save not only your money, but also your time.

"It does help you get through the month without having to go to the grocery store as much," she said.

Reynolds orders through her church, and said the process is easy.

"You'd simply fill out a form, then place it into the drop box... and in two weeks, the same food you would buy from your grocery store you can buy from your church at a lower cost," she said.

The qualifications are slim.

"If you eat, you qualify. that's what we really want to stress. it's available to anyone that participate in it so if you can't get to our church you can get to one closer to you," Laura Baker, a Fairview host volunteer, said.

The menu changes each month, but it always includes the basic foods for $30 like meats, cereal, and non perishables.

Reynolds is so appreciative of the program, she has spread the word to many of her friends and family.

"I have two children and I told them about it so every month i go pick it up, I pick up three orders," she said.

If you're tired of swiping and signing, and you're looking for a way to save money, look to an angel.
