COLUMBIA - The Boone County Fire Department responded to a house fire on Tuesday night on Ponderosa Road.

The neighbors of the house called in after they saw flames. The owners of the home, Jason and Rose Wellington, stated the house had recently been vacated by the tenants that were living there.

According to a press release, when firefighters arrived they found the house in flames and partially on the ground. Firefighters extinguished what was left of the house and stopped the fire from spreading in the grass.

Investigators believe this fire to be arson. There were no injuries reported and damage is estimated at $25,000.
