JEFFERSON CITY - After announcing his candidacy six days ago, Kenny Hulshof kicked off his campaign for the open Missouri governor's seat.

Hulshof currently represents Missouri's ninth district in Washington, D.C. Monday he was at at the Columbia Regional Airport beginning his campaign for governor.

When asked about Governor Blunt's 'email deletion scandal,' Hulshof said he wants to restore people's faith and trust in their government.

"We have to have an open, honest, accountable government; you deserve that, you're paying for that," Hulshof said. "For those who have been entrenched in Jefferson City politics for decades, I'm not sure that they're going to be able to bring that fresh perspective that I intend to bring."

Hulshof left the Columbia regional airport around 9 a.m. to head to Joplin and Springfield. He wants to introduce himself to Missourians outside the ninth district, so that come next year, he can move in to the governor's mansion.
