COLUMBIA - Tuesday morning another Central Missouri Honor Flight will leave bound for Washington, DC, but this flight takes off too late for one veteran.
Raymond Behrens lived in Heisinger Bluffs in Jefferson City. His family says all this Eldon native could talk about was seeing his memorial in the nation's capitol. Behrens was scheduled to travel on the June 16th flight, but sadly, he passed away just two weeks earlier.
Behrens was an army World War II veteran and one of the 20 Missouri loses each day. The honor flight is taking Behrens' picture to the memorial along with photos of other fathers, mothers and friends who either passed away or are too sick to go.
If you know of a veteran who is not capable of making an honor flight, you can send his/her photos to the tv station and the honor flight will take those pictures on a future trip to Washington, DC.
Please make a photo copy of your picture and mail them to:

If you'd like to welcome home the latest honor flight vets, bring your signs or flags to the Holiday Inn Executive Center Tuesday night. The bus full of World War II veterans gets in at 10 p.m.
Meantime, the Missouri Division of Employment Security is challenging other state agencies to get involved. It adopted three honor flight veterans by letting employees pay $5 to wear jeans.
