HARTSBURG - It's still warm outside, but leaves are changing and fall is in the air.
There is a must-see fall stop this year in Hartsburg. People there are preparing for the annual big festival this weekend.
"The weather could not be more beautiful. This is a perfect Missouri day," said Kim Dude-Lammy, a visitor at the festival.
"I think there is a whole spirit of people having a good time," Hartsburg Mayor Nancy Grant said.
A group of six people created the festival in 1991. The group figured since Hartsburg residents grow pumpkins it would be nice to get people to come and help celebrate the pumpkin in the fall.
"There is apple butter making and those smells are always good; out wafting on the air," Grant said. "It's a fun place to eat your way through the crabcakes."
Last year organizers estimate 30,000 people attended, even though the town only has a population of 108. Admission is free this weekend, but parking may be tight. Organizers suggest riding your bike in on the Katy Trail.
