JEFFERSON CITY - Despite the snowfall, the Cole County Sheriff's Department checked 95 cars Friday as a part of its Operation Safe Santa sobriety checkpoint.
The police arrested one driver without a license before snow ended the checkpoint. Upon seeing the checkpoint, one woman-with three warrants-got out of her car and ran away. She returned later. This checkpoint was one of five conducted before September 30, 2008. The Missouri Department of Transportation Highway Safety Division funded the checkpoint.
