COLUMBIA - Outside Magazine recognized Columbia as one of the best places to live in the country.
The August issue ranked Columbia 10th nationwide in civic reinvention and fresh ideas category. The magazine said the Katy Trail, local farms and growers and a variety of restaurants make Columbia a great town.
The article also featured the Twilight and True False Film Festivals.
"Any time we get positive national press that's good for the city. There tends to be a sense that Midwestern town in the middle of Missouri has little art, little culture in a way of cultural offerings," said Lorah Steiner of the Convention and Visitors Bureau.
The top 10 list is as follows:
1. Washington DC
2. Chattanooga, Tenn.
3. Ogden, UT
4. Portsmouth, N.H.
5. Tacoma, Wash.
6. Ithaca, N.Y.
7. Louisville, Ky.
8. Eureka, Calif.
9. Crested Butte, Colo.
10. Columbia, Mo.
