SEDALIA - The parents of 20-month-old Ocean McCoy laid their daughter to rest on Tuesday.
The baby was rushed to the University of Missouri Hospital last Wednesday night and did not make it through the night. The reason for this is still unclear and the couple said they will continue to seek answers.
Ocean's mother Kimberly Rohr said she has been denied a copy of the autopsy report after she requested it.
"I haven't even seen any obituary reports. Nothing black and white from anybody. No pictures, nothing. I don't know who or what to believe," Rohr said.
In a statement released by the Miller County Sheriff's Department, doctors said the girl's autopsy revealed she had textbook symptoms of shaken baby syndrome.
Ocean's father's fiancée, Roshell Johnson was the only adult with Ocean when she became unresponsive. Johnson claims Ocean fell down the stairs shortly before becoming unresponsive.
The Sheriff's Department's report suggested Ocean had bruises consistent with abuse.
"The only bruises I've seen on my child when I was in the room with her was bruises on her arms from where they take and put and IV down on this arm, and on her feet where they were trying to get an IV in the child," Rohr said.
The parents are unconvinced Johnson is responsible for Ocean's death.
Johnson has been charged with first-degree child abuse, endangering the welfare of a child and second-degree murder.
