WELLSVILLE - One town is honoring its military by flying flags.

Wellsville, which is north of Montgomery City, is showing how proud it is of the military by displaying 327 flags.

"It's something good for a small town when you have out of town people thinking you did something good," said Wellsville resident, John Howell.

The flags honor a member of the military, both past and present.

"I'm proud to be an American, so I want to pass that along to kids in the world that don't necessarily get that opportunity to see something like that first hand," said resident Ellen Hayes.

A sign is displayed below each flag for the person the flag honors.

"It kind of gives you that goosebump feeling inside to actually see their names written out and sese the flags waving above them," said Hayes. "It's pretty cool."

Her son Jerimiah, and daughter in law, Rebecca, are recognized by the flags.

The signs were painted by hand by the Kent Myers Community Betterment fund.

The flags will fly until August 23, but the people of Wellsville say the memory of those in the military will last forever.

The day the flags come down a fireworks show and a drum and fife band will preform.
