VALLEY PARK - A new law is in effect in the town of Valley Park that aims to curb illegal immigration. The Valley Park City Council unanimously passed the law last night after a county judge on Monday barred the town from enforcing a previous law on illegal immigration. Both laws make it a crime to rent homes to illegal immigrants. The first law was passed in July and drew a legal challenge from groups that say it encourages racial profiling. The new law will be enforced by city officials instead of landlords who were responsible for enforcing the previous version. Opponents of the law say they will challenge the new version.
