COLUMBIA - The University of Missouri Board of Curators confirmed, Gary Forsee as the system's 22nd president on Thursday morning.

The University of Missouri Board of Curators held a special meeting at 11:30 a.m. on the University of Missouri-Columbia campus. A news conference is planned with a public announcement. A public reception will follow the news conference in the Great Room at Reynolds Alumni Center.

The former Sprint Nextel chairman graduated from the University of Missouri-Rolla and serves on that school's board of trustees.

Forsee was ousted from Sprint Nextel in October.
