SPRINGFIELD (AP) - Governor Blunt denies that one of his office attorneys was fired in retaliation for raising concerns about e-mail deletions by fellow staff members.  Blunt's office says former deputy counsel Scott Eckersley was fired for reasons that included doing private work on state time.  Eckersley recently claimed he was fired last month after advising Blunt officials that the governor's office wasn't following its own policy about retaining e-mail as public records.  The issue came up after a newspaper requested e-mails from Blunt's chief of staff. The governor's office said the e-mails in question were not public records.  Eckersley says he told his superiors that the records are public.  One of Blunt's staff members says Eckersley never raised the issue in any manner.
