FULTON - Taking weapons to school is something officials are never really ready for, but Fulton Middle School had even more to deal with as two students brought guns to school.
Teachers and administrators scrambled yesterday as a series of strange events unfolded in the halls and classrooms of the school.
Fulton Police received an anonymous tip from a parent who said a student at the middle school brought a gun into the building. Police took the boy into custody and confiscated the weapon.
Even though the gun turned out to be a BB gun, the student said one of his peers also brought a gun to school. And that gun turned out to be a handgun.
School administrators said the students will be charged and will receive some kind of punishment from the school, either suspension or expulsion.
"It was just a very non-typical bizarre set of events that happened literally simultaneously," said Kathy Wright of Fulton Public Schools.
During the same day, the school had a fire in the gym. However, no one was injured. Police were still questioning the cause of the fire.
