ROCHEPORT - The Missouri River 340 Race Team took their canoes to downtown Rocheport on Saturday to raise money for Missouri River Relief.

The relief team is based in Columbia and primarily works on Missouri River clean ups, but lately have been partnering with groups on the Mississippi River, working on cleaning a 830-mile stretch.

"It's kind of a fun event for us. Usually we have to put in a lot of man hours into organizing these education events and river cleanups, and this one the organization is all done and we just have to show up and be on and ready to go," said Dave Stephens of Missouri River Relief.

Other groups were out today to show their support. The Rum Runner Band played, and Redwood Creek poured free samples of wine.

The Missouri River Race is the world's longest continuous race and will run this year July 15th through the 19th.
