One viewer complained that KOMU didn't give enough time to tell the whole story.

Time is a huge limitation in the news business. In some parts of the day, KOMU only has a few seconds to tell you a story.  Every day and every night KOMU gives you news updates. These short, taped segments sometimes recap longer stories KOMU aired previously on its newscasts.

One viewer thinks one of our updates came up too short.

Loren wrote us to say:

"The fact that police stops in Missouri are greatly disproportionate to actual race percentages, these facts are leading to my complaint/concern in the lack of importance your anchorperson used during the June 2, 9:50 news update regarding the audit's information. The anchorperson only stated that, 'there was an audit of all Missouri police stops and officers made a total of (1 million plus) stops.' I find this statement socially irresponsible, there was no mention of the racial implications of the audit, merely a mention of the total sum of stops.

KOMU 8 News Director Stacey Woelfel responded.

"We really have our newscast time to give our most complete stories," Woelfel said. "But earlier in the day, we do deliver the news in headline form. This was during the Today Show and she got one of those headlines rather than the complete story."
