COLUMBIA - To honor the memory of those who lost their loves on September 11, 2001, the Columbia Peace Coalition organized a rally on the steps of the Boone County Courthouse.

People gathered to listen to speakers, music, and watch dance performances dedicated to the day.

The Peace Coalition said they wanted people to have the opportunity to listen and to learn instead of just mourning.

"We thought that there would be individuals who'd somehow want to commemorate this event," said Gregg Bush of the Columbia Peace Coalition. "We thought we would just provide an opportunity for people who didn't want to sit at home thinking about the terrible things that happened six years ago, and so we wanted to have something for people to come out to."
