COLUMBIA - A man is currently at University Hospital after he was shot early Sunday morning.

Around 2:24 a.m. Sunday, several subjects became involved in a physical disturbance at 1100 Locust St. around Athena's and New York Pizza. Gunfire broke out and multiple shots were fired.

A personal car took the 32-year-old man who was shot to the hospital where he was treated for non- life-threatening injuries.

Police arrived on the scene of the incident after those involved had already left. A short time later near the intersection of Fifth and Lyon Street, patrol officers located a vehicle fitting the description of the vehicle that fled the scene of the shooting. As officers pulled the vehicle over, a firearm was thrown out the window.

Officers removed several individuals from the vehicle and transported them to the Columbia Police Department for questioning.

Police developed probable cause to arrest 28-year-old Edward L. Brown, Jr. of Joplin on one count of Felony Unlawful Use of a Weapon for carrying a concealed weapon. They also arrested 28-year-old Zachary O. Lambert of Columbia for an outstanding Felony Probation and Parole warrant and 17-year-old Jamika S. Lambert of Columbia for an outstanding Failure to Appear municipal warrant.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident and further arrests and charges are possible.
