COLUMBIA - The city celebrated its first world refugee day on Friday.

Nationally, June 20th is the World Refugee Day.

The locally made film "Neither Here Nor There," hasn't hit the big screen yet, but Stephens College opened up its doors for a showing.

The film features refugees from Bosnia and their transition to Columbia.

Refugees living in Columbia came to watch the documentary and spoke about their experiences.

Only living in Missouri for a month, one refugee from Baghdad attended to share his thoughts about moving from a war-zone.

"The United States is the land of opportunities, rather than having people look for their future, and i think this is a good reason for, for me to be here," said an Iraqi refugee Sarmad Salman.

The film will be featured on PBS later this month.
