Frat House Fire Death
ST. LOUIS (AP) - Police identified the victim of a fraternity house fire at the University of Missouri at St. Louis as 25-year-old Brian Schlittler. The senior died early Wednesday in a fire at the Pi Kappa Alpha house near the UMSL campus. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Police say Schlittler lived at the house with just two fraternity brothers. One of them arrived home at 3:30 in the morning to find the living room couch on fire. He roused his housemates, and told authorities Schlittler responded, indicating he was going to get out. But when the other two students got outside, Schlittler wasn't there. Police say that by then, the fire was too intense to go in and get him. Counselors are helping students, faculty and staff cope with the death.
