Below-average temperatures will cause chilly Halloween night

COLUMBIA - If you go trick-or-treating for Halloween tonight, make sure you pick a warm costume.

The average temperature on October 31 in Columbia is 41 degrees. Tonight, temperatures will drop down to 34 degrees by 10 p.m.

This is especially low when compared to last year, when the low temperature for the day was a moderate 43 degrees.

Many people will be out and about trick-or-treating in this cold weather. If you do, exercise caution, bundle up and try to stay warm.

As low as these temperatures may be, they are nowhere near the record low for Halloween. In 1993, temperatures dropped down to 22 degrees for the holiday.

This will be the coldest Halloween in 12 years.
