Boone County Helps Low-Income Residents with Free Energy

COLUMBIA - The Columbia Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services is holding a sign-up event Wednesday for free-energy assistance. The program is available to low-income folks in the area who are at or below 125 percent of the set poverty guidelines.

Participants must be customers of Columbia Water and Light or Boone Electric Cooperative to qualify. Applicants are urged to bring proof of income and household information to the sign up. Customer's who qualify hould also have a landlord's permission to take part in the program.

The sign-up event runs from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services office in Columbia.
