BOONE COUNTY - Fire shot out from a home along Route F in Boone County Wednesday afternoon. Boone County Fire Department got a call around 2:44 PM. Neighbors said they were the first to arrive, and it seemed like the fire started at the back of the house.

Gale Blomenkamp, assistant fire chief with the Boone County Fire Department, said investigators don't know yet what started the fire.

"Nobody was home at the time of the fire, so there's no injuries to report. However, the house is going to be a total loss," Blomenkamp said. "Unfortunately, it did burn the entire roof off."

The homeowners were at work when the fire broke out. They were visibly distraught at the sight of their home and declined comment.
