BOONE COUNTY - A fire almost burned down a house completely Wednesday night.

South Boone County Fire Department recieved a call around 6 p.m. that night about a fire near south 63 Highway. The occupant got out of the house safely and uninjured.

There was little left of the house to salvage when both South Boone County and Boone County Fire Protection arrived.

"Everything's gone," Roger Jaeger, Southern Boone County Fire Chief, said. "We couldn't save anything. It was fully involved when we got here. I think there was maybe one little section that wasn't involved. And the homeowner barely got out. So it was a pretty close call."

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Jaeger says it will take a few days to dig through the rubble in order to find the source.
