Breakdown of Columbia Election Ballot Measures

COLUMBIA - Columbia voters can cast their ballots Tuesday from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. On the ballot are candidates for a First Ward City Council seat, three Columbia Public School Board seats and a $50 million school bond issue.

Tyree Byndom, Ginny Chadwick and Bill Easley are all running for the First Ward City Council seat. Paul Cushing, Jonathan Sessions, Joseph Toepke and Helen Wade are running for three Columbia Public School Board seats.

If approved, $50 million will go to Columbia Public Schools. $28 million of the bond would go to building a new public elementary school to deal with overcrowding in the district. The measure would increase homeowners' property taxes by an average of $12 a year.
