Cargill to Slash Jobs

CALIFORNIA - Cargill plans to eliminate the third shift at the mid-Missouri based plant, cutting more than 60 jobs.

The company said increasing grain costs are driving costs up while lowering demand. Cargill also blames the slash to changes in meat inventory and rising transportation costs.

Cargill employs nearly 500 employees in California. Officials scheduled the cut for October 12.
