COLUMBIA - The Columbia City Council will vote on the final Columbia Voter Reapportionment plan at the regularly scheduled meeting tonight.  The reapportionment committee has been reviewing possible plans for the past six months.

The City usually reapportions the voting wards after each census with the biggest change to this plan being the expansion of Columbia's largest voting ward, Ward Number 1.  Supporters of the expansion of Ward 1 claim that the expansion will bring much needed diversity to the city's voting districts.  Meanwhile critics claim that the new wards include too many interest groups with the same goals.

The city council meeting begins at 7 at City Hall downtown and is open to the public.
