COLUMBIA - Columbia College Thursday dedicated the newly renovated Federal Hall on Cherry Street in downtown Columbia. The dedication ceremony included a ribbon-cutting presentation along with an announcement of a $100,000 gift to the Nursing Department from the William T. Kemper Foundation. Columbia College also received an additional $10,000 from Commerce Bank.
The 30,000-square-foot facility houses the college's Nursing Department, Online Campus and several components of the college's Technology Services Department.
The $110,000 gift to the Nursing Department was utlilized to purchase a SimMan patient simulator. It is a realistic, full-body adult wireless patient simulator that offers comprehensive clinical functionality to teach the core skills of airway, breathing, cardiac and circulation management.
Columbia College also received another $100,000 from Jeanne and George Hulett. The Huletts' gift will endow the new Hulett Family Scholarship Fund to provide additional undergraduate support to criminal justice and forensic science majors.
