Columbia Could Set Record High Temperature

COLUMBIA - With Monday's warm weather it's hard to believe that just last week Columbia was issued a frost advisory. For Tuesday's date, May 10th, the record high was set in 1928 at 91 degrees. Now, the National Weather Service in St. Louis is predicting to tie or even break that record Tuesday.

Monday's hot temperatures brought people out to Stephens Lake Park to play in sprinklers. With hotter temperatures quickly approaching it's good to remember to take advantage of cooling centers in Columbia if you don't have air conditioning.

Cooling Centers in Columbia:

ARC, 1707 West Ash Street
Armory Sports and Community Center, 701 East Ash Street
Columbia Public Library, 100 West Broadway
Columbia Mall, 2300 Bernadette Drive
Health Department, 1005 West Worley
Oakland Senior Center, 805 Old Hwy 63 North
Missouri United Methodist Church, 204 South 9th Street

Also remember to stay hydrated if you are spending long periods of time outside and to check on the elderly.
