Columbia man on trial for murder
COLUMBIA - A Columbia man will go on trial Monday for murder. James Thompson is accused of first-degree murder of his partner Brian Daniels.
Daniels was found dead by the Columbia Police department on April 10, 2013.
Thompson said he was in St. Charles visiting a friend and picking up a bathtub on April 9, 2013 but phone records indicated he was still in Columbia after midnight April 10, 2013.
Glenn Anderson of St. Charles, the friend Thompson was allegedly visiting was arrested for lying to police about Thompson's alibi.
In a later search CPD found an ammunition clip in Thompson's car with three missing bullets. Daniels was shot three times.
Authorities also found Daniels' updated will, which was signed in February 2013.
Thompson is also accused of hiring Casey D. Lewis to commit the murder. Lewis was also arrested.
