Columbia Offers Many Summer Volunteer Opportunities for Kids
COLUMBIA - The city of Columbia's Volunteer Programs will be hosting an informational session about its Youth in Action summer program Monday night at the ARC.
Youth in Action is a summer volunteer program for kids in mid-Missouri ages 12-15.
The program gives kids an opportunity to lend a helping hand to their community, make new friends and take a closer look at their local government.
Throughout the summer, the city of Columbia staff will organize 30-35 half-day volunteer activities for the kids to participate in.
There will be a wide range of volunteer projects both for the city of Columbia and for other community agencies such as the Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri and the Rainbow House Emergency Shelter.
Participants will be able to choose the activities they are involved in based on their interests and schedule.
In order to participate, kids must submit an application to the city of Columbia's Volunteer Programs.
The information session takes place Monday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.
