COLUMBIA - The Columbia Police Department dash cam footage shows its initial report was incorrect after a pedestrian was hit by a police car.

Laura Harrison was in a crosswalk when she was hit by a car driven by Officer Nicholas Wulff Wednesday.

CPD's initial report said Harrison failed to yield when using the crosswalk. But Friday, the police department said a review of the dash cam footage revealed she did use the crosswalk properly.

The correction came after Harrison emailed CPD's Public Relations Unit saying information included in the initial press release was wrong. CPD command staff was notified and the investigation was taken over by a supervising lieutenant.

CPD said Thursday's footage shows Wulff stopped and then turned into the intersection under a left turn yield on green light signal. At the same time, the crosswalk light was lit to the walk signal, but about four seconds later the crosswalk turned to the stop signal.

According to police, a crash reconstructionist will follow up on the investigation.
