Columbia School Board Vote
COLUMBIA - Two multi-million dollar agenda items wait for discussion at Monday night's Columbia Public School Board meeting. The first is a $13.75 million plan to construct two gymnasiums at Columbia's Rock Bridge High School and Hickman High School. The board will vote on which of the six competing contractors to award the contract. The school district has cited the need for more space in the schools as the 9th grade class will be added to both high schools in the near future.
The second big decision concerns the contracting of two new school district architects. The district is expected to complete the deal with Peckham & Wright and ACI Frangkiser Hutchens. The contract would be set to run to November 30th, 2014. Along with the contract, discussion will open on the construction of a new elementary school centered in northeast Columbia. The estimated budget for this contract would be around $10.7 million.
Both of these projects would be funded by the 2010 Columbia Bond Issue.
The board meeting begins at the district's administration building Monday at 6:30 p.m.
