Crowd Watches Inauguration Parade
JEFFERSON CITY - The gubernatorial inauguration began Monday morning with a worship service at First Baptist Church in Jefferson City. The inaugural parade followed and despite the cold weather there was still a crowd.
Several parade on-lookers said taking part in inauguration events was worth standing out in the cold weather.
"We decided to bring the kids out today. We hoped it would be nice like last week when it was 60 degrees but we braved the cold and came out. I called the inaugural committee and I said what is there, is it a family friendly event. They said yes clydesdales, red bird mascots. So we prepared for it all week and bundled up so we're ready to go," saide parade attendee Christine Acree.
Governor Jay Nixon was sworn it at noon and a public greeting followed at the Governor's Mansion.
The day will end with the Inaugural Ball at the State Capitol Retunda at 8 pm.
