December 31 is the Last Day to Make Tax Deductable Donations for 2012
COLUMBIA -The last day to make tax deductible donations for 2012 is just around the corner.
If you want your donations to count on your 2012 tax return make sure you date your donation checks on or before Dec. 31, 2012.
"It's very important that people know that their year end tax donations go to a 501 C3 organization so that they can get the tax deduction for it," said Major Richard Trimmel, regional coordinator for the Salvation Army.
This time of the year charities are in great need of any type of donation no matter how small.
"We like for folks to know that these year end donations are incredibly valuable to us," Trimmel said.
Some organizations like Big Brothers and Big Sisters can even give you a tax credit for up to fifty percent of you donation.
If you donate $100 to Big Brothers and Big Sisters you get a tax credit to get $50 back on your tax return.
"Basically you're choosing to donate to us instead of the government," said Executive Director for Big Brothers and Big Sisters Georgalu Swoboda.
