Downtown Businesses to Open Early Saturday for Homecoming Parade

COLUMBIA - Businesses in downtown Columbia started preparations Thursday for an early start Saturday morning because of the 7 a.m. homecoming parade start time. 

Downtown business owners said homecoming is one of the biggest weekends of the year for business. And because parade participants must line up for the parade by 5:30 a.m., shops will be getting an early start. Coffee shops like Kaldi's, bars like Bengals and merchandise shops like Jock's Nitch will open earlier than usual to meet the demand of people flooding downtown for the homecoming parade. 

The University of Missouri homecoming football game will kick off at 11 a.m. Saturday at Faurot Field. The opponent is Kentucky.
