COLUMBIA- In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Ellis Fischel Cancer Center is sponsoring an after hours mammogram screening clinic called “Mammothon”. The event will be from 6 p.m. to midnight on October 4 and 7 a.m. to noon on October 5.

Women must be 40 or older or have a doctor’s order to attend the clinic for a screening.

Annual mammograms are an important part to the fight against breast cancer and an early detection of cancer can save a life.

Chief of Surgical Oncology at Ellis Fischel Cancer Center Paul Dale, M.D. said, “We are running a race against breast cancer because we know the earlier we detect breast cancer, the longer our patients are going to live. And how do we detect breast cancer? Through routine, screening mammography.”

The clinic will be hosted at Ellis Fischel’s new facility at University Hospital, 1 Hospital Drive, Columbia. Parking will be available at the Patient-Visitor Parking garage, adjacent to University Hospital. Screenings are appointment only.
