Family works to grow its Halloween business
AUXVASSE — One Mid-Missouri family works hard every Halloween weekend setting up its own home haunt. The Marsh family, accompanied by close friends, is in the kick start stage of their business, Marsh Madness Productions.
Christy Sapp got her love of Halloween from her grandparents. She said she started decorating for the holiday when her grandma stopped and she felt she had to continue the tradition.
She says ever since the idea started it has grown. The family now hosts a weekend event that takes months of planning.
This year's theme was "Wicked Woods of Auxvasse" and the home haunt was free and open to all ages. People going through could tell the family beforehand to turn down the scare factor for young children or up if they thought they could handle it.
Sapp said in the next year she plans to get the proper licenses and insurance to make Marsh Madness Productions an official business. The family also plasn to expand the home haunt to take visitors through the woods and begin charging admission, but until then the famlily accepts donations to make the following year bigger and better than the one before.
Wicked Woods of Auxvasse is open October 29 and 30 from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. It will be open on Halloween from 8 p.m. until 11 p.m.
The haunted house is located at 4760 State Highway E, Auxvasse.
