COLUMBIA -- The wait is almost over. In just five days, the MU football team will officially take the field under the SEC banner.
Head coach Gary Pinkel released the team's depth chart today. One question on everyone's mind... Where's Dorial Green-Beckham? He's listed second behind tight end Eric Waters in what Coach Pinkel is now calling the Y-receiver position. But, DGB isn't the only freshman making a splash early on.
"Amazing. They're truly amazing. They're a talented group.", junior tight end Eric Waters told us. "Even individuals that won't be there on gameday will take a little more time to develop like redshirting."
Senior star TJ Moe said, "We knew we pulled in a pretty good group this past season. They're all eager to learn, they want to be good players."
When asked about newcomer DGB, junior starting quarterback James Franklin told us, "he's a big target, obviously, I'm not just going to throw it up and hope for the best if there's ever a jump ball, but he is a really big target, so when I do throw it up I know he'll catch it."
Head Coach Pinkel explained, "Danario Alexander, we played in there quite a bit at wide receiver. He's a little bit bigger of an athlete from a wide-receiver standpoint, but he's not a tight end. We've got to kind of work those together and it'll work out fine."
