Hallsville School District Goes Mobile
HALLSVILLE - Hallsville R-IV Schools is now mobile thanks to the recent launch of the district's new free mobile app.
The application provides information for parents, students, staff members and the Hallsville community.
According to Hallsville Superintendent John Robertson, the district partnered with ParentLink to develop the app.
"ParentLink designed the functioning of the app, but all of the art and features are our design," he said.
The district began working with ParentLink in August to develop the app and ran a trial-phase with district faculty earlier this fall.
"The feedback we got from faculty using the app was really positive," he said. "Teachers felt it was a great way to streamline all of the district's information into one convenient place."
Staci Johnson, a Spanish teacher at Hallsville High School, downloaded the app onto her cell phone and says the app is a useful tool for teachers, especially in emergency situations.
"If we have to take kids outside for a fire drill or something like that, we can get our rosters and check all of that on our phones."
The app features a variety of news and district events similar to the district's website.
However, Robertson said because users are able to customize the app to their liking, they aren't forced to search through information they don't need.
"The app consolidates information into what you care about. So, if you have a child in kindergarten, you can tailor the app to information specifically on the child's school and the activities going on there."
The app includes features such as:
- district and school news
- calendar information for schools and district events
- sports scores, schedules and links to sports sites
- contact information for teachers, administrators and other staff
- superintendent updates
