Hundreds Expected For State Capitol Rally
JEFFERSON CITY - Hundreds of people are expected to gather at the Capitol on Tuesday to advocate for equal rights for people with disabilities.
The 12th annual Disability Rights Legislative Day starts at 11 a.m. The theme for the rally is "Access for All." The main focus is on three major issues currently facing people with disabilities. Affordable health care, employment opportunities, and community support are expected to be discussed Tuesday. Between the morning and afternoon rallies, attendees will have time to go to legislative offices and speak with lawmakers.
Last year, Governor Jay Nixon made an appearance and spoke to attendees. Organizers said they hope this year's rally is even bigger. Rallies start at 11:15 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. in the Capitol Building.
